Here’s what you need to know about AI today:

  • AI is automating a lot of freelance writing gigs.

  • Our top tip: embrace AI tools and experiment with them.

  • The saga between Elon Musk and OpenAI continues to unfold.

  • AI-generated disinformation is surging.

Think you’re AI-proof? Think again…

We’re *strongly* convinced that AI will radically transform what is valued in the workforce. The harsh reality is that AI can already do many white-collar tasks better than humans can, and this trend is gaining momentum.

Like, look at the impact ChatGPT has already had on some freelance jobs:

Though correlation ≠ causation, the plunge in writing, translation, and customer support gigs isn’t a coincidence.

So how do you know what’s safe from AI?

AI makes some skills less valuable, such as basic writing, simple data analysis, and mundane admin tasks.

And it elevates the importance of other skills, such as those involving high EQ—communicating well, people skills, conflict resolution, etc.

Our guidance: Learn what parts of your job an AI can do and what’s uniquely human about your job. But be honest.

A buddy of ours recently told us, “there’s no way an AI could craft PowerPoints like me…we follow a very specific template”. Uhhh, how do we break it to him that this is the exact thing AI will be able to do soon?!

For the immediate future…

  1. Know how to describe your work to an AI.

  2. Be willing to tinker with AI tools and update your skills.

  3. Tell your friends about The Neuron so they don’t fall behind!

OpenAI claps back at Elon Musk.

One thing AI will never replace? Drama and gossip, and we’re definitely not upset about it.

In response to its impending lawsuit from Elon Musk, OpenAI went public with a series of emails sent to-and-from Elon Musk that debunk many of his accusations against OpenAI.

Ironically, these emails might be the only valuable thing OpenAI has ever open-sourced.

Key points include:

  • Elon actually agreed OpenAI needed more $$ to compete with Google, but dipped when OpenAI refused to give him majority ownership, board control, and the CEO position.

  • Elon also agreed it was okay to keep AI private as it became more powerful.

Boom, roasted like a SpaceX rocketship.

While the discourse about powerful AI systems is essential, we view this saga as largely fueled by personal vendettas and trivial squabbles.

Elon even jestingly proposed that OpenAI rebrand to "ClosedAI" if they want to see the lawsuit dropped!

Thursday Trivia.

A Reddit post went viral over which of two photos was AI-generated. As with most Reddit forums: no one could agree.

One glance, everyone knows the rules: one of these photos is AI-generated and the other one is real.

Which is which?

A Cat's Commentary.

Trivia Answer: IDK. Seriously, they didn’t say which was AI and which was real. Apologies for the anticlimax. If you know the answer, please write in!
