šŸ˜ŗ Firefly vs. DALL-E 3 vs. Midjourney

PLUS: Our honest thoughts on AI "Kendall Jenner"

Welcome, humans.

Not trying to brag, but weā€™re bringing the heat today.

Like that kind of heat when you plunge into a steaming hot tub on a chilly winter day. Jolting at first, but once you're in up to your neck, there's nothing more satisfying.

Hereā€™s what you need to know about AI today:

  • Adobe Firefly is the best image generator for companies.

  • Replitā€™s AI model is free to use on Hugging Face.

  • Meta is paying influencers millions to use their ā€œvoiceā€.

  • Even Google employees donā€™t know if Bard is useful.

Adobe Firefly vs. DALL-E 3 vs. Midjourney.

Itā€™s 2023, and AI lets you whip up an image just from a description. Itā€™s jaw-dropping, but so are smart fridges, which no one usesā€¦

Two questions:

  1. Which image generators should you use?

  2. What should you use them for?

Midjourney was and still is the top option for hyperrealistic and abstract images. But thereā€™s a steep learning curve and you're stuck using it within Discord.

There are two up-and-comers worth mentioning:

DALL-E 3 by OpenAI: Once a dud, now a stud. Worth using when your image needs text elementsā€”think cartoons, branding, memes, you name it.

Adobe Firefly Image 2: this model just leveled up ā€” it can do things like skin texture and hands quite well.

The big pro here is Adobe is a safe bet for businesses. Adobe doesn't train its AI on unauthorized art and just launched Content Credentials, a ā€œdigital nutrition labelā€ that shows how an image was made and by whom.

(Firefly got a bunch of upgrades this week including photo upscaling and style alignment with your brand).

These image generators come in clutch for any project that involves visuals:

  • images for blog posts, social posts, or digital marketing.

  • product designs.

  • fashion/interior design.

  • diagrams/illustrations for educational content.

  • thumbnails (which you can now A/B test with ChatGPT-4V)!

FROM OUR PARTNERS

Your Business Needs AI Talent. Like, Now.

Well, thatā€™s pretty unfair.

Your business needs to hire AI talent, but itā€™s hard to compete with companies like Capital One, Nvidia, and Salesforce that offer crazy salaries and benefits.

Hereā€™s the tea: instead of going through traditional hiring, companies like Walmart and McGraw Hill have a secret workaround.

Fractional Work. The quickest way to integrate AI talent into your projects.

A.Team is hosting a webinar thatā€™ll dish out the exact playbook theyā€™re using to pull this off.

Celebrities Can Monetize Their Likesness Using AI (Starting With Chatbots).

Stop when you find your celeb crush:

  • Mr. Beast.

  • Kendall Jenner.

  • Charli Dā€™Amelio.

  • Tom Brady.

  • Snoop Dogg (STOP).

Meta is betting that you love one of these A-listers enough to chat "with them" for hours via chatbot on Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.

And it paid some celebrities up to $5M to ā€œrentā€ their voices so users can message with them.

But itā€™s just so ā€¦ weird (cheers to this viral post roasting Metaā€™s AI personas).

Maybe itā€™ll catch on with GenZ/Alpha (they seem to love talking to chatbots on character.ai).

We think the more interesting AI application here could be celebs "renting" their authentic voices and faces for things like audiobooks, commercials, or other voice-over gigs.

Itā€™s unclear what exactly this looks like, but weā€™re already seeing celebs license their likeness to engage with fans in creative ways.

Around the Horn.

  • Even Google employees are questioning Bardā€™s utility.

  • Replitā€™s new AI model is available for free on Hugging Face.

  • A database of machine learning engineering resources and tools.

  • Klarna's new AI feature lets you snap a pic of a product and find lookalikes.

Thursday Trivia.

Low-key, we think the new image models are getting scary good. So for those of you with perfect scores so far, time to put your skills to the test.

One glance, everyone knows the rules: one is AI and one is human-generated.

Which is which?
