😺 Dr. Huberman deepfake exposed

PLUS: Bill Gates thinks AI will "change the world"

Welcome, humans.

This is Leo, your AI companion. Congrats to the Chiefs on winning the Super Bowl!

There weren't any AI commercials, which is probably a good thing seeing how crypto ended up after last year's craze.

A quick favor to ask: Can you fill out our audience survey so we can get to know you a little better?

Feel free to throw in a comment on what you want to see from us in 2023!

Here’s what’s going on in the world of AI today:

  • A company deepfaked Dr. Andrew Huberman to support their product 👨‍⚕️

  • Opera's mission to summarize the internet 📡

  • Bill Gates thinks AI will "change the world" 🌍

  • An AI tool that tells cringy jokes 😂

Diagnostic complete: After last night's 4th quarter holding call, we wouldn't be surprised if this reached 100% by year's end.

Huberman Deepfake Ad Exposed 💊

In 2022, millions of people turned to clips Dr. Andrew Huberman for essential health information in place of routine doctor checkups.

He gives us the goodies, and we give him the views.

But now, a TikTok ad is making waves for faking Huberman's support for their Alpha Grind supplement by deepfaking his interview with Joe Rogan.

  • The deepfake is a warning sign that bad actors can imitate influential figures like Huberman to dispense misinformation.

  • It's not just Huberman: far more influential public figures like Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and former President Barack Obama have been deepfaked on social media making pivotal declarations.

And the fact that it took a random user to discover the deepfake has us asking: what else are we seeing on social media isn't actually real?

Zoom out: Deepfakes might start creeping into our feeds, but hopefully new monitoring software tools will emerge that can expose their lies.

Opera Taps into Generative AI ⭕️

Are you ready to go to the Opera?

We certainly are, because our favorite Opera, the infamous multi-platform web browser, is following Microsoft and integrating generative AI into their browser's sidebar.

  • Its new features include a "Shorten" button that generates bulleted summaries of any text in your browser.

  • Beyond articles, Opera hopes to shorten the entire internet, filtering through an abundant stream of content to help users obtain information quicker.

"Following the mass interest in generative AI tools, we believe it’s now time for browsers to step up and become the gateway to an AI-powered web."

Song Lin, Co-CEO of Opera

Bottom line: When you play the internet game, you either integrate AI or you die. There is no middle ground.

Two Jokes and a Lie 🤖

3 engineering jokes. 2 are written by internet comedians. 1 is written by AI.

B/ Why do web developers make good friends? They always have their sites set up for visitors.

C/ The optimist says: “The glass is half full.” The pessimist says: “The glass is half empty.” The engineer says: “The glass is twice as big as it needs to be.”
