đŸ˜ș ChatGPT-4o vs Claude 3.5 Sonnet

PLUS: Sora creates a nature documentary in 3 minutes đŸ˜±

Welcome, humans.

Robinhood is acquiring a research platform called Pluto that uses AI to advise people on their investment strategies. TBH, I’d probably be way better off (financially) if I had AI picking my stock market portfolio instead of Wall Street Bets or my high school “stock trading” group chat!

Here’s what you need to know about AI today:

  • We're diving into a head-to-head: ChatGPT-4o vs. Claude 3.5 Sonnet!

  • Meta is switching its AI disclaimer from “Made with AI” to “AI info”.

  • Sora and ChatGPT teamed up to create a nature documentary in 3 minutes.

  • Runway’s latest AI video generator is now available for everyone!

ChatGPT-4o vs. Claude 3.5 Sonnet—which is better?!

ChatGPT is slightly higher on the LMSYS leaderboard, but Claude is higher on the coding leaderboard.

ChatGPT-4o from OpenAI and Claude 3.5 Sonnet have raced ahead as the two top AI models, and a lot of folks are asking us: which one to choose?

First off, it's worth mentioning that you try both for free: ChatGPT-4o here and Claude 3.5 Sonnet here.

Both will cost you $20/month for higher usage rates, meaning you can ask more questions.

Our pal Matt Wolfe recently posted on X asking who still prefers ChatGPT over Claude.

More people than not said they were using Claude 3.5 Sonnet as their go-to model. We've found it to be a stronger writer—it just kinda "gets" what we're looking for more.

A few points people highlighted: some are sticking with ChatGPT because it offers more useful features:

  • GPTs (specialized versions of ChatGPT for different use cases),

  • DALL-E 3, its image model.

  • Voice mode for chatting (Claude doesn’t have this yet).

  • Option to edit your prompt.

The Claude fans said they really dig its new features like Artifacts, which lets you see what you're creating on the side of your screen, and Projects (only available for pro/teams users), which lets you organize chats with your teammates and upload internal knowledge to Claude that it’ll remember every time you’re working in that Project.

Our advice? Try both and see which one better fits your needs. TBH, we find Claude 3.5 Sonnet handy because of Artifacts—we enjoy seeing our work in real time alongside our prompts.

That said, we’re not pledging allegiance to either House Anthropic or House OpenAI—our preference could change as soon as GPT-5 drops, which the media speculates about daily (though no one knows when it's actually coming).

Tuesday Ticker.

Here are the results from last week’s poll:

  • C.B. chose Record labels are right: “Not only should labels AND artists get paid for training, they should be paid per query/call and should get a stake in the derivative works.”

  • S.B. chose Both have valid points: “There has to be a "happy medium" where artists' works are protected but technology is allowed to advance.”

  • P.W. chose AI companies are right: “Humans can do the same thing--receive input (listen to songs), interpret what makes each song sound the way it does, and use that to inspire new creations. Just because AI can do it better shouldn't be cause for paying for the inspiration.”
