šŸ˜ø AI art got easier...and FREE

PLUS: AIs that troll people?

Welcome, humans.

We talk a lot about AI-generated images and videos here at The Neuron these days, but AI music is getting pretty out of control, too.

Check out this Norse-emo rock ballad called ā€œWhispers In The Darkā€ that one Redditor couldnā€™t believe was AI:

The post prompted a healthy discussion in the comments about what AI entertainment could look like in the futureā€”and how itā€™ll impact artists and their audiences. Instead of custom playlists, we might all have custom music!

Hereā€™s what you need to know about AI today:

  • Anyone can now create images on Midjourney on their website.

  • Microsoft released some impressive new open-source models.

  • Anthropic's Claude mobile app grossed $1M in 16 weeks.

  • Lindy's founder had to retrain its AI to not ā€œRickRollā€ users.

Midjourney is now available for anyone to use on the webā€”and free to try (for now).

Remember when we told you about Midjourney 6.1 and how tricky it is to use? ā€œYou gotta go through Discord, and only when you generate 1,000+ images, you can finally unlock the web versionā€¦ā€

Throw all that outā€”Midjourney just made its web version available for everyone to test outā€”for FREE (try it here).

Hereā€™s how to use it:

  1. First, enter your text prompt in the top ā€œimageā€ bar. These text prompt can be as simple as a single word, or really complex.

  2. After you enter your prompt, go to the ā€œCreateā€ tab. For each prompt you enter, youā€™ll get 4 image variations.

  3. You can now ā€œrerunā€ the same prompt and get four more images, or pick one you like the style of and click on it for more features.

FYI: Midjourney has a short 2 minute video that covers all this.

Once you click onto an image, you can now:

  • ā€œVaryā€ it = generate 4 more images in a similar style, changing it either a little (ā€œsubtleā€) or a lot (ā€œstrongā€).

  • ā€œUpscaleā€ it = generate a higher resolution version.

  • Or click the ā€œEditorā€ to get some new tools.

What it looks like when you click on an individual image

Inside the Editor, you can:

  1. Expand the frame in any direction + have Midjourney fill in the rest.

  2. Erase a portion + change your prompt to request new details.

  3. Easily swap the aspect ratio between a handful of different options.

To see these tools in action, check out this video.

Our prompting tips: There are loads of resources on how to prompt Midjourney, from the companyā€™s official guide, to this parameter cheat-sheet, and even this prompt someone made for ChatGPT to generate Midjourney prompts.

Thereā€™s also PromptFox + Prompt Library (prompts to easily copy), Promptbase (prompt packages to buy), and this thread (prompt terms to try).

Alternatively, if you see something you like in the Explore tab, just drag it to the ā€œImagine barā€ as a reference, and add your own spin to it!

Remember: You only get 25 free generations before you have to pay.
