PLUS: 7 GPTs you need start using!
Welcome, humans.
A Nobel Prize-winning economist warned young people not to focus solely on STEM in an AI-powered world, but also to nurture âempatheticâ and creative skills. Ironically, this sounds a lot like what every kid who didn't become a doctor or engineer tells their disappointed parents.
Hereâs what you need to know about AI today:
72% of teachers have received zero guidance on ChatGPT.
45% of Neuron readers regularly use GPTs for work.
Midjourneyâs v6 creates incredibly realistic images of people.
Samsung is debuting its AI-powered Galaxy phones on the 17th.
Our advice to schools falling behind on AI.
Last month, a university admin asked me: âSo, Noah, why are students using AI to cheat?â
UmmmâŠthatâs like asking why pens âaccidentallyâ get stolen from banksâŠ
Our education systems are thinking about AI all wrong, ignoring it, banning it outright, or trying to catch cheaters with detection tools that donât work.
Instead, we should be thinking about how AI can used to teach more effectively and how to better prepare students for an AI-powered workforce.
This guidance needs to trickle down from higher levelsâ72% of teachers have received ZERO guidance on ChatGPT and only 2 states have provided guidance for schools.
One of two is California, home of hikes as a casual first date.
Their AI guidance is mostly fluff, but there is some good advice, like embedding AI into CS curriculums and tailoring learning via AI (shoutout to Khanmigo and MATHia, two personalized learning tools that were lauded by Bill Gates in his annual letter).
Now, here are some of the best resources weâve found for incorporating AI into classrooms:
