Execs Are Bullish On AI, But Unprepared 😴

WSJ

The three most common concerns we hear from readers are: will AI impact my job, how will AI impact my job, and when will AI impact my job?

A survey of 300 global corporate executives revealed the answers we've been craving. Here's the tl;dr.

1/ 65% of execs think AI will have a high or extremely high impact on their org, and 77% believe generative AI will be the most significant tech in the next 5 years. Mars can wait.

2/ Most execs expect AI to have the greatest impact on R&D, sales and marketing, and operations.

3/ Most importantly, execs aren't ready for AI to completely take over.

  • 60% said their company is 1-2 years from implementing its first generative AI solution. We might all have jobs in 2024!

  • The main concerns for business leaders about AI include cybersecurity and data privacy. Plus, they need the tech talent to implement it.

Why it matters: AI will be everywhere, but not immediately. There's a massive opportunity for whoever can help enterprises implement AI and manage risk.

No, The Neuron isn't becoming a consultancy (yet!).

FROM OUR PARTNERS

Effortlessly Manage Meetings With Magical 🪄

Our meeting process is a disaster: we use Calendly to schedule, Zoom to chat, and Notion for notes.

The meetings control us. It’s time to change that.

Meet Magical, an all-in-one platform that makes managing meetings effortless. It’s like Hermione Granger’s enchanted handbag meets 9-to-5.

Magical AI saves you time in three different ways:

  1. Magical’s AI finds optimal meeting times based on your preferences (no more juggling schedules).

  2. It lets you easily manage all of your daily calendars and meeting workflows in browser tabs.

  3. It provides detailed meeting summaries that you can share and/or sync straight into Notion.

PwC Is Pumping $1 Billion Into Generative AI ⛽️

Wake up, econ buffs: AI is coming to corporate America.

PwC is investing $1 billion into generative AI over the next three years. The funds will be distributed toward hiring AI workers, training existing staff, and acquiring AI software.

It's not PwC's first dabble in AI. Last month, the consultancy partnered with Harvey, bringing its "professional services" chatbot to 4,000 of its lawyers. (btw congrats to the Harvey team for closing its $21 million round yesterday)!

PwC's grand plan involves automating its operations and advising companies on how to adopt AI. PwC's vice chair Mohamed Kande expects AI to help...

  • write reports

  • prepare compliance documents

  • analyze business strategies

  • identity inefficiencies in operations

  • create marketing materials

...and much more.

Bottom line: A big focus for PwC will be building AI in private with data and decision transparency as it begins working with Microsoft Azure and ChatGPT.

A question for the audience: Do you run an consultancy/agency or provide professional services? Let us know how you use (or want to use) generative AI in your daily work!
